Our Legislative Priorities are decided each year at our annual "AZGA Summit" held each fall.

Our 2021 Legislative Priorities:

Restore "child only" TANF for non-DCS families with children placed by court order (SB1144) Sponsored by Sen. Tyler Pace (R-25)
-
Increase the Kinship Stipend for DCS families from $75 to $150 per month, per child (SB1539) Sponsored by Sen. Lela Alston (D-24)​

UPDATE: March 29, 2021:
-
SB 1539 and SB 1144 have BOTH passed their respective House Committees by UNANIMOUS votes!
-
Several House Members in Appropriations (the money committee) remarked that $150 wasn't enough and wanted to move it to $300
-
Take Action: Call and Email your House Members and ask them to support SB 1539 and increasing the stipend from $75 to $300

What you can do: Send a simple email to the committee chairs asking for the bills to be heard. In your email, state that you are kinship and that hearing these bills will help families like yours.

UPDATE February 17, 2021:
SB 1144 passed committee unanimously and is on the "CONSENT CALENDAR" for the Senate floor on February 17!!
SB 1539 passed the Senate Appropriations committee unanimously and will be moving to the Senate floor!!
